On the 12th of September 2019, an interactive talk session was held for the helpers of the Junior Wing by the Protection Officer, Mrs. P. Guglani. The theme of the session centred around child safety and protection. The helpers being caretakers of our young students in the Junior Wing, are important stakeholders in creating a child friendly environment in school, where students must feel secure. The PO discussed various aspects of the need for being polite and protective towards students especially towards the Kindergarteners who may not be fully toilet trained and need assistance of the helpers. She highlighted the significance of maintaining hygiene and cleanliness of the toilets and the adjoining areas. The presence of the helpers for the students, at any hour of need is crucial and the students must be attended to immediately. Mrs. Guglani while appreciating the prompt action and help provided by the helping staff to the students, further motivated them to ensure that the students feel cared for. She sensitised them about the polite usage of language and handling the young students with much caution to make them feel safe and protected. The helpers were also given a short presentation about the POCSO act and its implications in context of protecting children. The helpers were participative and expressed their queries which were discussed in the group.
