Description: St. Columba’s School, Senior Branch, held a heartfelt and dignified Labour Day Assembly on 1st May 2025, honouring the indispensable contributions of the school’s supporting staff—our helpers, attendants, and maintenance workers. The event was a celebration of their dedication, often silent but deeply valued, and aimed to express gratitude for their tireless efforts that ensure the smooth functioning of daily school life. In the gracious presence of Br. Robert (Principal), Br. Agnelo Benjamin, Mr. Chopra (Headmaster), Mrs. Garg (Senior School Coordinator), teachers, and students of Classes XI and XII, the assembly commenced with a warm welcome by Aryan, the host. Speaking in Hindi, he set a reflective tone with poetic lines that captured the essence of the day, acknowledging how the support staff breathe life into each school morning and infuse joy into the routine. A touching video presentation followed—an image carousel of candid moments that depicted the workers engaged in their daily tasks. Set to the tune of ‘Meherbaan Mazdoor’ by Istas Music, the montage was warmly received by both the audience and the staff, who found joy in seeing their quiet efforts brought to light so sincerely. The ceremony then moved to the felicitation segment. Each staff member was invited individually, without any hierarchy, to receive a token of appreciation—a suitcase gift. Br. Robert initiated the process by honouring the first four members, followed by Br. Agnelo who felicitated the next group. A soulful interlude by the school’s Music Society followed, featuring a harmonious rendition of ‘Jaise Bhi Ho Hum Duniya Ke Kaam To Aate Hain’ by Praveen Mehta. The choir was accompanied by students on the electric guitar and clapbox, adding a rhythmic depth to the performance. Nevin, the second host, then continued the proceedings. Mr. Chopra and Mrs. Garg successively felicitated the remaining staff members, concluding the formal presentations. To close the ceremony, Br. Agnelo addressed the gathering with a moving speech that highlighted the irreplaceable role of the school’s support staff. He urged students to recognise them daily, not just with words but with respectful gestures. The assembly concluded on a unifying note with the singing of the national anthem—a fitting end to a morning filled with dignity, warmth, and gratitude.
