Description:
The holistic development of a child is a core goal for every school — one that can only be achieved when parents and teachers work together in close partnership. This partnership is built on the pillars of frequent, open communication and a shared understanding of what benefits each child the most.
With this in mind, the Class 1 Parents’ Orientation for the academic year 2025–26 was held on April 4, 2025, in the Edmund Rice Hall. The event began with a prayer song centered around the theme of unity, led by our esteemed Principal, Brother Robert. In his address, he emphasized key expectations for both parents and students, highlighting the importance of punctuality, regularity, and discipline.
Following his speech, he invited the Junior School Headmistress, Mrs. Ritu Kaushal, to speak about the school’s pedagogical approaches. Mrs. Kaushal provided insights into the National Education Policy, emphasizing the importance of Early Childhood Care and Education, along with the Foundational Numeracy and Literacy program offered by CBSE. She also spoke about the role of Competencies as essential guidelines for curriculum development.
Class 1 Educators then introduced parents to the various competencies that support holistic child development — including physical growth, socio-emotional and ethical development, cognitive skills, and aesthetic and cultural enrichment. They explained how these elements lay the foundation for a well-rounded education.
Furthermore, the Coordinator of Classes KG and 1, Mrs. Rashmi Sehgal, discussed the importance of assessments in tracking student progress. She outlined the school’s assessment patterns and explained the format of report cards used to evaluate learning outcomes.
To conclude the session, Mrs. Ritu Kaushal expressed her sincere appreciation for the parents’ presence and participation. She encouraged ongoing communication between parents and educators, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in supporting each child’s success. This Parent Orientation session served as a valuable step toward building a strong, cooperative relationship between families and the school.
