The Reading Week commenced with a vibrant opening
assembly by the students of classes - 8, 9 & 10th that set the tone for a
week of literary exploration and creative engagement. fostering empathy. The
Middle School students highlighted how books can transport us across time and
cultures.
Students from Grades 4 to 10 participated in a
delightful scrapbooking activity. Each student created a personalized scrapbook
page inspired by their favourite book or author. Pages featured quotes,
illustrations, and reflections, showcasing the diversity of literary interests
across the school.
In alignment with the United Nations Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs), students took on the role of young journalists. They
researched global issues such as climate change, gender equality, and quality
education, and presented news reports linking these themes to SDG goals.
Students explored the moral and emotional journeys of
characters from selected novels and short stories. Through group discussions
and role-play, they reflected on values such as courage, kindness, and
integrity. This activity helped students connect personally with literary
characters.
The week concluded with a heartwarming closing
assembly. Certificates of appreciation were awarded to enthusiastic
participants. The assembly ended with a collective reading of a poem
celebrating the joy of books, leaving everyone inspired to keep reading beyond
the celebration.
