Description:

St. Columba’s School hosted the second edition of The Columban Verdict on 21 August 2026, bringing together students, alumni and members of the legal community for a day of courtroom simulation, legal reasoning and advocacy.

The event commenced with an Opening Ceremony at 8:00 a.m. in the Middle School Auditorium, in the presence of the Principal, Community Leaders, faculty members and participating students.

This year's competition featured two parallel simulated Supreme Courts.

The Indian Supreme Court heard The Digital Freedom Case, which explored questions surrounding freedom of speech, online content regulation, internet shutdowns and the regulation of AI-generated media.

The UK Supreme Court addressed The Crown in Crisis, a fictional constitutional dispute raising questions concerning constitutional conventions, the powers of the Crown, evidence and the relationship between constitutional practice and legal authority.

Students took on the roles of counsels, witnesses, experts and other participants, presenting arguments before the respective courts and responding to questions from the judges. The proceedings tested their research, analytical thinking, public speaking, rebuttal and ability to think under pressure.

The competition concluded with a Closing Ceremony, where the results were announced and the achievements of the participants were recognised.

The second edition of The Columban Verdict was more than a competition. It provided students with an immersive experience in legal reasoning, advocacy and constitutional thought, encouraging them to question, analyse and defend their ideas with confidence and responsibility.

The event was made possible through the collective efforts of the school leadership, faculty, organisers, judges and students, whose enthusiasm and dedication made The Columban Verdict 2026 a memorable and enriching experience.
