Earth Day 2025: Our Power, Our Planet
To mark the global observance of Earth Day, Middle School held a series of impactful and engaging events that celebrated environmental awareness and inspired students to take meaningful action.
The celebrations began with a special intercom assembly on 22nd April Students from Class 9A — Saatvik Chibber, Aayan Grover, Aditya Sinha, Agastya Chetwani, Sarabjit Singh, Japjeet Singh, Utkarsh, and Tanishq Pandey — led the Earth Day pledge and spoke passionately about the importance of conserving our environment.
The highlight of the day was the Tree Plantation Drive, conducted in honour of Pope Francis, Br. Robert Fernandes and Mrs. Aparajita Pal, accompanied by students Saatvik, Aditya, and Sarabjit, planted a sapling on campus, reinforcing our commitment to a greener future. The school community was also encouraged to switch off the lights and all electrical appliances at school and home as a symbolic gesture of energy conservation.
The spirit of Earth Day continued on 25th April 2025 with a series of hands-on activities during the activity period. Under the theme Our Power, Our Planet, and with a strong focus on Planet vs Plastics, students from Classes 4 to 10 participated in grade-specific eco-friendly projects:
- Classes 4, 5 & 6 transformed waste into wonder through a *Best Out of Waste* activity, creating functional items from plastic bottles, cardboard, and newspapers.
- Classes 7 & 8 showcased their creativity through *bookmark making* and *collage work*, using recycled materials to express themes of sustainability.
- Classes 9 & 10 engaged in *slogan writing*, *poster making*, and *accordion book crafting* around the theme: _"Our Power, Our Planet — Act Today for a Greener Way!"_
These activities were thoughtfully planned and executed under the guidance of Mrs. Monika Khiani and Mrs. Shashi Kala Shaji, who inspired students to reflect on their role as stewards of the Earth.
Through creativity, collaboration, and conscious effort, Earth Day 2025 reminded us all, that the power to protect our planet truly lies in our hands.
