Description: “When we heal the Earth, we heal ourselves” - David Orr On 22nd April 2024, a memorable day was marked on the calendar as the students and teachers of the Junior Wing celebrated Earth Day with enthusiasm and excitement. It was a day dedicated to reinstating our responsibilities toward Mother Earth, and an array of creative activities were organized to sensitize the students of KG to Class 3 about the importance of our planet. These activities aimed to promote environmental awareness and sustainable living among the students. Kindergarteners connected with the relevance of the Earth by colouring cutouts of trees, learning about alternatives to plastic, and planting tomato seeds. In Class 1, students considered the effects of climate change and the necessity of taking urgent action, emphasizing the significance of environmental protection. Meanwhile, children in Class 2 showcased their creativity by designing posters, constructing crafts with an Earth theme, and utilizing waste materials to create Bird Feeders. Class 3 students demonstrated understanding and commitment by engaging in slogan writing, acrostic poems, energy audits, and pledging to practice the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). During Elocution class, the boys recited rhymes and jingles about protecting our planet. They also made Earth Day posters in MS Paint and Presentations in MS PPT in the computer classes. These activities collectively helped students to appreciate the importance of Earth Day and inspired them to contribute positively to environmental protection. All students and teachers participated in the activities with earnest zeal, demonstrating how little actions taken now may have a tremendous impact tomorrow.
